Random Palin Articles/Thoughts
Let's go through a few random thoughts on Governor Palin.First, Governor Palin's oldest daughter is pregnant. She's 17. She plans to get married to the father of the baby and keep the baby. And...I don't care. It doesn't say a thing about Governor Palin's character except that she loves her daughter and wanted it to remain private so didn't talk about it until the media decided to pry -- and just stated the facts in a quick press release. That's the end of this and even Barack Obama thinks it should be. Let's keep it that way.Second, on experience. Palin is the only person on either ticket with executive experience. Her 8 years as Mayor of Wasilla and her 2 years as Governor of Alaska is more than any of the other candidates for President and Vice President combined. On the Democratic side we have two Senators and McCain is also a Senator with no executive experience. Why does Obama get a free pass on experience and Palin with a comparable amount of experience in an office that's more relevant to the Presidency...and she's not even running for President, she's running for the number two spot. In addition to all this -- she's the only Governor in the nation who's bordering two separate nations (Russia and Canada) and has direct interactions between both nations giving her greater foreign policy credentials than the top of the Democratic ticket. On scholars saying she's least qualified person on a major party ticket, they're wrong. First and foremost, the scholars are all biased Democratic donors who's comments need to be taken with a grain of salt. Secondly, think on the following --
Lincoln has a single term in the House before becoming President
Agnew had two years as Governor of Maryland before becoming VP
Grover Cleveland and Theodore Roosevelt were Governor of New York for two years before being elected President or Vice President respectively
Millard Fillmore went directly from NYS Comptroller to Vice President,
Eisenhower, Grant, and Washington had never held public office before being elected President
Barack Obama has been running for President for the past two years of his four years in officeThink about it again. Their experience was comparable if not less than Palin's experience. Their commentary is bullox and I think even they know it.On being a parent and Vice President, I ask why this same question isn't asked of Barack Obama or any of the other candidates running for President so far with younger children. Why only Governor Palin? Why not Senator McCain? Why not Senator Obama? Why not ask John Edwards? Why didn't anyone ask these people? I don't know. It's just like the issue of experience -- it seems like it's easy to attack someone who's a Republican compared to attacking a Democrat's experience or family in the media. That's just what they do.This is the bottom line -- we don't know a great deal about Governor Palin, but what we do know isn't bad. She's got more executive experience than both tickets; she's got foreign policy experience with Russia and Canada; she's a proven reformer and hates corruption even in her own party; she's a good public speaker; and she's a fiscal hawk which makes conservatives cheer across the board. Why wouldn't she be considered a good pick for VP for John McCain?
